Ani DiFranco with Special Guest Jesca Hoop-February 13, 2020. 8PM Tickets: $27.
A writer, singer, songwriter and GRAMMY® winner who has released more than twenty albums, Ani DiFranco is difficult to fit into a music genre. She has been classified as folk rock and alternative rock, but one can also hear punk, funk, hip hop, electronica and jazz influences in her songs. In other words, she is her own genre and fans are drawn to her sophisticated lyrics and unique staccato guitar playing style. Today, she is considered a feminist icon for supporting many social and political movements. But, from the beginning DiFranco has stood up to any system with a goal to restrict cultural, artistic, and human rights. At 19 years of age she became one of the first artists to create her own record label-Righteous Babe Records-and throughout her career she has delivered songs with intricate and sometime ironic lyrics addressing the hot topic issues of the day. Her most recent album Binary was released in June 2017 on Righteous Babe Records and her memoir No Walls and the Recurring Dream was released in May 2019 by Viking Books.
