My name is Shelby Athouguia, host of Electric Feel on Friday nights from 8 pm to 10 pm. To honor the past, present, and future generations of female producers in electronic music during Women’s History Month, I have been playing curated sets every Friday in March 2024 that feature female producers. And I am not alone in my efforts. Both Electric Feel co-hosts, Toby Roberts and Chris Miranda, have joined me to lift up incredible women in electronic music.
There is so much incredible music from a multitude of female artists, and I have selected just a few that I have featured on Electric Feel shows this month. Each producer has origin stories and lengthy discographies rooted in a desire to create electronic music that harbors radical self-expression.
The predominately male-dominated electronic music industry has and continues to re-evaluate itself, especially in the last decade to rightfully recognize and create space for not only female producers but DJs, promoters, label owners, agents, and beyond.
