SUPPORT

KXCI Community Radio has a long-standing tradition of honoring Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year, KXCI will honor the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 15th, with special programming from 7 am to 10 pm. DJs Mario, Minister Jo, C.J. Boyd, Traci, Mookie, and Dr. Steptoe will pay tribute to the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The day will include music from Black artists, music from the civil rights era, segments from historic King speeches, community voices, and more.

Dr. King’s powerful voice and ideas continue to inspire, and each year offers an opportunity to reflect upon where we have been, where we are, and where we hope to go together.

This year’s community theme is “Equality, Justice, Love,” and the national theme is “Shifting the Cultural Climate through the Study and Practice of Kingian Nonviolence.” Join us by tuning in as we honor the life and work of Dr. King and continue to work towards a better future for all.

Listen below to messages from community members that we’re aired throughout the day and listen back to our two-week archive for the music programs.

United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona is proud to present their second annual MLK Day of Service. While Martin Luther King, Jr. Day became a federal holiday in 1983, it wasn’t until 1994 that it became a National Day of Service. To this day, it is the only federal holiday that is designated as a National Day of Service. MLK Day is used as a day of service to continue Dr. King’s legacy of achieving a Beloved Community. Please join the community in honoring Dr. King by volunteering to help us all build a better community.
