TUCSON (December 12, 2014) — As KXCI Community Radio General Manager Randy Peterson steps down to pursue other interests, the KXCI Board of Directors mounts a national search for new leadership. After 15 years of service and leadership – six of those years as general manager – Peterson is considering new leadership roles and opportunities of his own in the community.

KXCI has seen tremendous growth with the recent purchase of a new transmitter tower installed to strengthen KXCI’s signal to reach Oro Valley and additional areas of Southern Arizona. The station is excited to serve more of the community with its quality programming and news, and looks forward to this new chapter made possible by a successful capital campaign.

“Randy Peterson helped to bring KXCI to a place of stability and built a solid platform for the station to grow and flourish,” said board president Katie Rogerson. “Randy has set the bar high, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors. We now look to take KXCI Community Radio and The Foundation for Creative Broadcasting to the next level while remaining true to our mission and vision.”

Peterson looks forward to watching KXCI continue to grow. “My long tenure at KXCI has afforded me the opportunity to grow as a professional, as the station has grown,” Peterson said. “The great team of staff and volunteers that I’ve been honored to lead have worked hard to make KXCI a valued community asset. I’m leaving now knowing both that it’s the right time to explore my own widening interests and that KXCI is being left in great hands.”

“KXCI has been funded by its members for over 30 years,” said Rogerson. “And the overwhelming support we’ve seen so far in the Amplify KXCI! Capital Campaign shows that the community is ready to see us grow and begin a new chapter in the station’s history.”

Peterson will stay on through February to assist in the transition and search. The KXCI Board of Directors will assist staff and volunteers to make sure that listeners and supporters don’t miss a beat.
