Talking Bodies | Eli Burke and Harrison Orr

SUPPORT

Jan 7 – Jan 16, 2020 | Reception: Jan 16, 12:00 — 2:00pm

We seek healing through the queer imaginary and art magic. We take pride in our true bodies while exploring our potential beyond the binary. We create work that draws from personal experience, dreams, history, and community. We
invite you to celebrate and reflect on our individual and collective somatic experiences.

Eli Burke is an interdisciplinary artist who uses a diverse range of mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking, and installation working with themes of loss, identity, queer embodiment, magic, empathy and vulnerability. Burke is a full tuition Merit Scholar graduating with their MFA in 2007 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a current Ph.D student in Art and Visual Culture Education at the University of Arizona. Burke’s most recent exhibitions include Fleischer Ollman Gallery in Philadelphia, ACRE TV in Chicago, and Everybody in Tucson, AZ.

Harrison Orr graduated from The University of Arizona in 2012 with a BFA in Media Arts and is currently working towards an MA in Art & Visual Culture Education. He is passionate about both making and teaching art, as well as creating safe spaces of learning and creating for all individuals.
