The Southern Arizona Clay Artists is an organization formed by a group of clay artists many years ago to provide a greater understanding and appreciation of clay to the community at large and to provide a cooperative network of clay artists, both professionals and enthusiasts. This is accomplished through workshops, show opportunities, lectures, slide presentations and discussion groups. Membership in the organization exceeds 200 artists, over 100 of whom have been successfully juried by a panel of their peers. In addition to the above stated mission, SACA has had a major role over the last several years contributing to the community through Empty Bowls. Empty Bowls started as an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. Potters create and contribute handcrafted bowls that are donated to a local food bank. The contribution last year exceeded $72,000. The opportunity offered by the Joel D. Valdez Main Library to exhibit work during the month of November, 2017, will allow us to showcase our new and emerging artists.
