Join us for the opening reception of Etherton Gallery’s exhibition, “El Sueño de Razón/The Sleep of Reason” and immerse yourself in artwork by Alice Leora Briggs and Kitty Brophy, where dreams and reason intertwine. The opening will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 7-10 PM (MST) at Etherton Gallery, 340 S. Convent Ave. in the Barrio Viejo neighborhood of downtown Tucson.
Alice Leora Briggs will present sgraffito drawings about drug violence in Juárez from her recent book Abcedario: A Lexicon (2022). Kitty Brophy will display unique word-art prints about gender stereotyping in the main gallery and her figurative Sketchbook drawings will be on view in the gallery pop-up, “In the Cases.”
Briggs is the recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship and a Fulbright award. Brophy is a visual artist and poet. Her work was included in the exhibition, “Club 57: Film, Performance and Art in the East Village, 1978-1983,” which was held at The Museum of Modern Art, in New York in 2017-2018.
