No More Deaths, a humanitarian aid organization, is excited to host a fundraising event with Luis Alberto Urrea, author of The Devils Highway.
No More Deaths was founded in 2004 in response to the disaster of migrant deaths unfolding in the US-Mexico borderlands. Urrea, a favorite Tucson son, is the author of The Devil’s Highway, published in 2004, which brought to light the desperation that drives immigrants to travel north, and the U.S. border policies that force them to walk in the most inhospitable, deadly corridor in the Southwest desert commonly known as The Devil’s Highway. No More Deaths volunteers provide lifesaving water, food and medical aid in these remote corridors today.
The evening will begin with a 5:30 pm reception with the author. Tickets for event AND reception are $60 each. Guests also have the option of purchasing a ticket for the event only for $40, which begins at 7:00 pm.
Proceeds of this event will go to fund the growth of No More Deaths/No Más Muertes’ work.
