Localscapes: Historic meets Modern

SUPPORT
Blue 92

Lunchtime walks through downtown barrios inspired Elizabeth Langley to photograph and paint Tucson’s fusion of architectural styles and desert landscapes in a series of small oil paintings on wood called localscapes. Inspired by the city’s bright sunshine and sharp shadows, as well as Tucson’s unique mix of modern and historic, I capture iconic and everyday places with midcentury lines and colors and a touch of the desert. I began selling the pieces in pop-up markets, including Fourth Avenue’s Made in Tucson, Cultivate Tucson, and the Tucson Flea. This spring’s YWCA Galleria show is my first solo exhibition. On view April 9 – June 30, 2019. Opening Reception April 12, 5-7 pm.
