Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: BS Movies Presents

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” And so it goes in one of the most iconic teen movies of the ‘80s – a hilarious ode to “taking it easy” from writer/director John Hughes.
In Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, smooth-talking high schooler Ferris (Mathew Broderick) is a legend in his own time, thanks to his uncanny skill at cutting classes and getting away with it. Intending to take one final, epic day off before graduation, Ferris calls in sick, “borrows” a Ferrari, and embarks on a one-day baccanal through the streets of Chicago, with his neurotic best pal Cameron (Alan Ruck) and his adoring girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara) in tow. But the vindictive Principal Rooney (Jeffrey Jones) and Ferris’ tattletale sister Jeannie (Jennifer Grey) are determined to stop the King of the Slackers from having his day, and Ferris is going to have to stay one step ahead of the naysayers if he’s going to have some serious fun. If you’ve ever wanted to know how to fake an illness, scam a meal from a fancy French restaurant by posing as “The Sausage King of Chicago,” or sneak your way onto a parade float in order to sing “Twist and Shout” for thousands of admiring onlookers, this is the movie for you! (Dir. by John Hughes, 1986, USA, 103 mins., Rated PG-13)
