Film celebrates life of Innovative Dancer and Filmmaker,
and underscores contributions of LGBTQI+ community
One of America’s most important choreographers and avant-garde filmmakers is profiled in Feelings Are Facts: The Life of Yvonne Rainer to be screened at 2 pm, Sunday, October 8 at the Loft Cinema.
The documentary is presented by Southern Arizona Senior Pride as part of its on-going film series highlighting the contributions and history of the LGBTQI+ community. Filmmaker Jack Walsh will be present to discuss the documentary.
Feelings Are Facts: The Life of Yvonne Rainer chronicles the defiant, uncompromising, and highly influential ideas of postmodern choreographer and filmmaker Yvonne Rainer. Over the course of her career, she revolutionized modern dance, generated what later became known as performance art, and changed the basic tenets of experimental filmmaking – all during a time when women were largely ignored in the art world.
