Local blues legend Tom Walbank returns to Tucson for a dual record release event with widely travelled singer/songwriter David Huckfelt, who has deep Tucson roots.
Over a twenty-year musical relationship and close friendship, folk & blues aficionados David Huckfelt (formerly of The Pines) and Tom Walbank (formerly of Tucson) are at the top of their game; fierce performers and deep students of American roots music, as original as their forebears. On this special evening, both will release brand new records, Huckfelt’s long awaited “I Was Born, But…” recorded at Dust + Stone in Tucson, and Walbank’s brand new “Devil in the Details”. Walbank will make his highly anticipated return to Tucson, his home for more than 25 years, for his first performance since leaving town earlier this year. David Huckfelt returns to town from the faraway lands of Minnesota, back to the scene of his most recent recording, due out in January on Don Giovanni Records. Expect both artists to romp through new material, together and separately, with many special guests, including Huckfelt’s AZ band “The Unarmed Forces of Sonora” featuring locals Howe Gelb, Gabriel Sullivan, Winston Watson, Thoger Lund & more.
This is Tom Walbabnk’s first Tucson show since relocating to Washington DC earlier this year.
