FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bahá’ís Mark the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of the Bab, predecessor of Bahá’u’lláh, the Founder of the Bahá’í Faith.
In countless settings and places throughout the world, people are celebrating the 200th anniversary of the October 20, 1819 birth of the Báb, Whose revitalizing message prepared the way for the coming of Bahá’u’lláh, the Founder of the Bahá’í Faith. The Báb announced in 1844 that humanity was entering a new era. He prepared people to receive new teachings from God through which the whole world could unite to create justice and lasting peace.
The Báb paved the way for Bahá’u’lláh, the Divine Educator for this age whose teachings of unity and spiritual renewal are the basis of the Bahá’í Faith. The bicentenary of Bahá’u’lláh’s birth was celebrated in 2017, launching two years of joyful commemoration.
The Bahá’í Community of Oro Valley is delighted to announce the local bicentennial celebration of the Birth of the Báb. The event is scheduled for November 2, 2019 in the Sunset Room of the Oro Valley Community Center at 10555 N La Cañada Drive. Start time of the celebration is 3:00 p.m.
For Bahá’ís, the bicentenary represents more than a mere event. The commemoration includes a host of grassroots activities all around the country, including artistic displays and performances, service projects, and prayer and devotional programs.
