Black Girl Magic is more than a buzz phrase that “celebrates the beauty, power, and resilience of Black women”. But what happens when through all that magic, Black girls – to the detriment of their esteem, happiness, and very existence – still don’t feel seen?
This class challenges the myth that Black girls (who grow to be Black women) are nothing more than complicated, angry, unworthy objects created for the sole purpose of being the backbone of their families, communities and society – by delving beyond invisibility to discover the truth behind their magical existence. Topics covered include self-esteem, confidence, empowerment, cyber-bulling, sexual decision-making, consent, healthy relationships and STI/pregnancy prevention and self-love.
