Did you know that Tucson is home to the 2nd oldest koi show in North America?!
The non-profit Southern Arizona Koi Association (SAKA) is hosting their 38th Annual Koi Show November 11th and 12th at the Oro Valley Marketplace (Oracle at Tangerine).
With over 200 beautiful, colorful koi and goldfish swimming about on display, it makes for a great, FREE, family-friendly weekend activity: a great weekend ride destination for Tucson bicyclists; a great walk for strollers to seniors – and a fun excuse for couples to get out of the house for an afternoon date!
If you’re a backyard gardener, come and get advice from the water feature vendors. If you want to learn more about koi, come listen to the judge’s talk on Sunday. And if you’ve always dreamed of having a koi pond or water garden or maybe even just an aquarium with goldfish, you can buy fish onsite and enter your brand new koi into the novice division or even buy award-winning fish at the auction on Sunday!
There’s a great raffle with tons of prizes ranging from gift certificates to local restaurants like the Keg and BJs to tourist attractions like the Botanical Gardens, Flandrau Planetarium, Golf and Stuff, Mini Time Machine, the Gaslight Theater, the Children’s Museum, Skate World, Camping World – and of course, koi and pond gifts galore!
