GM REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 2014                Prepared by Randy Peterson

Financial reports are provided separately by the finance committee. February was a solid month as we begin to recognize income from the spring membership drive while holding the line on expenses. Be forewarned that we will be missing revenue from the now-cancelled Barrio Festival, but part of this will be offset by the unbudgeted revenue from the Jeep Raffle tickets.

Solid prep for the drive should lead to a successful and time-effective campaign; we are again looking to raise $120,000.

The capital campaign will take a back seat to the drive for a bit, but I’m happy to report that we continue to see success in our fundraising efforts in that area. We are getting very close to the point where we can move from the lease “option” to an actual 5-year lease (with us holding three additional 5-year options to cover the next 20 years total); I would anticipate finalizing that lease in March. We should also be able to order equipment and make the down payment for it by late March.

On February 1st I attended a seminar on sponsorships and events organized by FEATSAZ here in Tucson, very eye opening and useful information and an example of how to get practical training without attending out-of-state conferences.

I met with the branding subcommittee on February 6th to begin that process. On February 17th I also met with Jennie Grabel and a representative from Tohono Chul Park to discuss event options there for the fall. I attended the monthly FEATSAZ mixer on February 19th. Amanda and I both attended a mixer at the home of the executive director for the Tucson Museum of Art on February 25th (a reception for Governor’s Arts Awards nominees). On February 26th I attended the State of the City event as a guest of Sinfonia and Fletcher McCusker.
