The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) was founded in 1993 for the purpose of promoting energy-efficiency in existing and in new buildings. To this end, the USGBC partners with Architecture 2030 to establish ‘2030 Districts’ nationwide. 2030 is the target date to reduce consumption of electrical power and water, as well as emission of CO2-emissions from transportation related by these buildings, by 50%.

2030 Districts

The 2030 districts are  regional networks of sustainability experts, building contractors, industrialists and other parties engaged in sustainability. Membership of these districts entails commitment to the 2030 objectives.
