Thesis Thursday -with Lindsey Chew

Thesis Thursday is a special mini program where we invite our friends from the University of Arizona to come down to KXCI and talk to us a little bit about what they are working on in school, their plans for the future and we even talk about music.

Lindsey Chew is a junior in the University of Arizona’s Neuroscience and Cognitive Science program, and she aspires to become a physician-scientist.  In August 2014, Lindsey found her undying love for science and spirit of inquiry when Dr. Rajesh Khanna welcomed her, just a freshman at the time, into his lab.  There, she has learned diverse research techniques for assessing both holistic and detailed effects of novel pain-relieving drug candidates on sensory neurons.  For Lindsey, these opportunities to learn about pharmacological drug discovery and neurophysiological systems, in addition to her involvement with diverse patient populations, converged and motivated her pursuit of a career that integrates translational research with clinical practice.  In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys exploring Tucson’s wild side and hiking, especially with Juan, her seeing-guide dog puppy in training.
