Riding Behind the Padre: Horseback Views from Both Sides of the Border

Día de los Muertos: A Celebration of Life and Death

What is Día de los Muertos? It is a significant and highly celebrated holiday in Mexico, Latin America, and the Southwestern United States. To many Mexicans, death is not a subject to be feared, ignored, or divorced from the living. One cannot celebrate life without also celebrating death. This plática (informal talk) traces the origins of this Mexican festival and describes the traditional elements associated with the holiday including food, folk crafts and altars.

Astronomy Family Fun Night

Do not miss this special night of family fun where the University of Arizona Astronomy Club, Astronomy graduate students and postdocs will give a presentation on the solar system. We’ll learn about asteroids, meteors, and comets, and what they tell us about our Solar System and how life formed on our planet.
