Upcoming Locals Only Schedule

Tune in to Locals Only every Monday night from 8-10pm MST on KXCI 91.3fm, for the best in live and recorded local music. The first hour spotlights album cuts from many of your favorite Arizona bands/musicians, with a focus on the artists performing live in Tucson venues that week. The second hour features a performance and interview recorded in KXCI’s Studio 2A.

You can find KXCI at 91.3 on the FM dial in southern Arizona, and streaming live on the web at www.kxci.org everywhere else in the wired world. If you don’t manage to catch Locals Only when it airs, come back here and check the Locals Only archive to download the performance/interview from the 2nd hour of the show. Assuming the artists grant us permission to archive their appearance, each performance should be available here by the following morning.

Mr. Free and the Satellite Freakout - November 12, 2007

mrfree.jpg

Mr. Free and the Satellite Freakout have been entertaining Tucson music fans with their shock and awe campaign. The “awe” comes courtesy of proggy rhythms and hyperactive vocal stylings that fall somewhere between Mr. Bungle and Captain Beefheart. Meanwhile, the “shock” is evident to anybody that has ever happened to catch one of their live shows.

While you might have missed their recent CD release party at Plush, you can now download the Mr. Free and the Satellite Freakout Studio 2A Performance and Interview.

Brian Field, Courtney Robbins, Coyote Grace - October 29, 2007

Brian and Courtney

Courtney Robbins hitched a ride with Coyote Grace earlier this year, and has been leading a nomadic lifestyle for much of the past few months, criss-crossing the U.S. performing shows together. She’s back in town for a week or two, culminating with a show this Friday (November 2nd) at The Hut with Coyote Grace, Brian Field, and Leila Lopez. For those of you that haven’t heard Brian Field yet, this Boston transplant is a clever wordsmith. Occasionally cynical, often funny, and always entertaining. Don’t hold his BoSox fandom against him.

If you missed it on Monday, you can now download the Brian Field, Courtney Robbins, and Coyote Grace Studio 2A Performance and Interview.

Mozart’s Sister - October 15, 2007

In Tucson’s alternative rock music scene, dominated by male-fronted bands, Mozart’s Sister provides a breath of fresh air. This rockin’ power trio is nestled somewhere in that sweet spot between female-fronted 90’s alternative rock bands like Belly and Juliana Hatfield, and 80’s pop-rock like the Pretenders and the Motels.

If you missed their recent appearance on the live segment of Locals Only, you can now download the entire Mozart’s Sister Studio 2A Performance and Interview.
