The Tucson Folksingers

The Tucson Folksingers gathered monthly from 1955 to 1962. Although the group itself was not overtly political, individuals from the group made many principled stands such as participation in demonstrations, draft resistance, and refusal to sign Arizona’s loyalty oath. The group also hosted many prominent national artists. Local Folksinger Ted Warmbrand has begun The Tucson Folksingers Project 1955-1962 to document the stories of the remaining stories. In May 2013 he convened Tucson Folksinger members at the Tucson Folk Festival. We recorded this panel discussion and this is a rough edit of the first portion of the discussion- along with some of their favorite songs.
